First, with a project cost of 3.3 billion KRW, a local food hall with a total area of 2,418㎡ was completed. The first floor houses a convenience store and a restaurant, while the second floor is designed as various exhibition and experience halls, making it usable throughout all four seasons.
Additionally, flower gardens featuring crape myrtle, roses, chrysanthemums, and more were created to offer tourists new attractions all year round.
To complement the tourists' monotonous movement routes, a 2 km healing stone wall path was newly introduced, and preparations were completed to welcome visitors with wave petunias and hydrangeas.
In particular, on the lawn plaza, a Pine Nine (松 nine) hill planted with nine types of 150-year-old Daehang pine trees and a Pungnyu resting area were created, capturing tourists' attention as a new landmark of Baekryeonji.
Governor Kim San said, “I hope the residents, who are going through difficult times due to COVID-19, can find rest and peace of mind at Baekryeonji,” and added, “We plan to operate various educational programs in the future and develop Hoisan Baekryeonji into the nation’s first inland waterside arboretum through the arboretum creation project.”
