In this regard, at the 4th Public Diplomacy Committee meeting (video conference) held on the morning of the 21st, presided over by the 2nd Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Daegu City presented the best practice for 5 minutes.
From November 6 to 18, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs solicited cases of public diplomacy projects implemented by various institutions throughout the year that introduced creative methods amid the COVID-19 situation and overcame difficulties through collaboration with related organizations to enhance effectiveness.
As a result of the contest, a total of 65 cases were submitted, including 55 excellent cases from overseas diplomatic missions and 10 excellent cases from ministries and local governments. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs selected a total of 12 outstanding cases after two rounds of evaluation.
This year, Daegu City published an English-language booklet (Overcoming COVID-19 in Daegu-The path nobody taught us) containing cases of overcoming COVID-19, which led K-quarantine, as part of the Ministry of Education's LINC+ project.
This work involved Keimyung University Industry-Academic Talent Center and Daegu International Development Cooperation Center, translating the booklet into five languages: Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, and Vietnamese, and sharing it with government ministries and local governments of those countries, diplomatic missions, and international organizations such as the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and Metropolis.
