Cultural Heritage Administration Sparks Interest in Seowon Through Web Drama
Today: Online Release of 'Sambaeksal Class of 2020'
The Cultural Heritage Administration is releasing the web drama "Sambaeksal 20 Hakbeon" today (21st), set against the backdrop of Seowon. It is a fantasy coming-of-age story about three Joseon-era noblemen who come to a Seowon in the present day. The series consists of six episodes, each approximately 10 minutes long. It will be broadcast on the Cultural Heritage Administration's YouTube channel, the Korean Seowon website, Naver TV, Kakao TV, and more.

The Seowon featured as the setting?Sosuseowon, Namgyeseowon, Oksanseowon, Dosanseowon, Pilamseowon, Dodongseowon, Byeongsanseowon, Museongseowon, and Donamseowon?are UNESCO World Heritage sites. The Cultural Heritage Administration stated, "We directed the drama to naturally convey the beauty of the Seowon," adding, "We hope it will stimulate interest among future generations and establish these sites as major tourist destinations in Korea." They also mentioned, "We will provide it free of charge to Korean cultural promotion organizations both domestically and internationally," and "We plan to sequentially support subtitles in various foreign languages such as English and Chinese."
