Jindo-gun to Start 1000 Won Bus Service from January Next Year

According to Jindo-gun on the 21st, a flat fare system will be implemented on all rural bus routes from January 1st next year, charging 1000 won for adults, 800 won for middle and high school students, and 500 won for elementary school students, regardless of distance.
The losses incurred by bus companies due to the flat fare system will be calculated annually through a service and compensated by the county.
Currently, Jindo-gun's rural bus fares use a distance-based section fare system, with the maximum fare for the Jindo-eup to Jisan-myeon Anchi section being 4900 won, which places a heavier transportation cost burden on residents traveling longer distances.
The county abolished the complicated section fare system and recently held an agreement at Jindo County Office for the implementation of the flat fare system, attended by Lee Dong-jin, Jindo County Governor, and representatives from Jindo Passenger, Okju Passenger, and Jodo Passenger.
With the implementation of the flat fare system, all routes within the county can be used for 1000 won, which is expected to reduce transportation costs for residents and tourists visiting the area.

Lee Dong-jin, Jindo County Governor, said, “Once the 1000 won bus is implemented, it is expected to reduce the economic burden by lowering transportation costs, especially for low-income elderly residents and students in Jindo-gun,” and added, “We will stabilize the operation of the 1000 won bus to ensure there are no inconveniences in using public transportation.”
