Samsung Heavy Industries Wins Order for Two LNG Carriers Worth 408.2 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 21st that it has secured orders for two LNG (liquefied natural gas) carriers worth a total of 408.2 billion KRW from an Oceania-based shipping company. These vessels are scheduled to be delivered sequentially by February 2024.
The vessels ordered by Samsung Heavy Industries this time feature membrane (Mark-Ⅲ Flex) type cargo tanks equipped with a reliquefaction system to minimize cargo loss, and are equipped with Samsung Heavy Industries' smart ship solution 'SVESSEL,' which supports economical and safe navigation of the ships.
Samsung Heavy Industries is increasing its ship orders by demonstrating a competitive edge in the LNG carrier market, which resumed orders in the second half of the year. In particular, including this contract, the company has secured orders for a total of 13 LNG carriers since November, boosting the cumulative order amount significantly from 1.1 billion USD at the end of October to 4.4 billion USD currently.
