According to Shinsegae Food on the 21st, the sales volume of cakes from the online-exclusive premium bakery brand ‘Becchia Enubo’ from November to December (November 1 to December 15) increased by 296% compared to the same period last year. In particular, cake sales in December, the peak season for cake sales, increased by up to 381%.
Shinsegae Food analyzed that this increase is due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to more consumers avoiding contact with others, and the growing interest in online bakery brands that allow easy ordering and home delivery. Especially in December this year, with strengthened social distancing measures due to COVID-19, the number of consumers sending cakes from online bakery brands as mobile coupons for year-end and New Year greetings and gifts has also significantly increased, which is considered one of the growth factors.
Following this trend, Shinsegae Food launched a special goods giveaway promotion targeting the online bakery market in line with the peak cake sales season of Christmas.
