Three Additional Local COVID-19 Infection Cases Confirmed in Jeonnam... Total Now 502
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 20th that three additional COVID-19 community infection cases were confirmed: one in Haenam, one in Damyang, and one in Hampyeong.
With this, the total cumulative confirmed cases in Jeonnam have increased to 502, of which 448 are community infections.
One colleague teacher of Gwangju patient number 860, who works at a school in Haenam, tested positive, and in Damyang, the spouse of Gwangju patient number 865 was confirmed positive.
In Hampyeong, one person who had contact with Jeonnam patient number 455 and was under self-quarantine tested positive in the final test before release from quarantine.
On the night of the 19th, the province received notification of the confirmed case of Gwangju patient number 860 working at a school in Haenam and conducted comprehensive testing of contacts including students and staff. Among 102 tested, one was positive, and the remaining 101 were confirmed negative.
The province's rapid response team is conducting in-depth epidemiological investigations jointly with the Haenam and Damyang rapid response teams, including tracing the movements of confirmed cases and isolating additional contacts. Temporary closures and disinfection of visited locations have been completed.

Kang Young-gu, Director of the Jeonnam Provincial Health and Welfare Bureau, stated, “As cluster infections continue to occur mainly in the metropolitan and urban areas, there is a risk of spread to Jeonnam, so vigilance must not be lowered. If you have symptoms such as a cold, please get tested immediately at the nearest screening clinic, and refrain from year-end and New Year events, family and friend gatherings, and visits to other regions.”
