Seoul Reports 473 New COVID-19 Cases Yesterday... Highest Daily Total Again

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Seoul has once again reached a record high, approaching 500 cases.
As of midnight on the 20th, Seoul city announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 473 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 14,713.
The daily new confirmed cases in Seoul first exceeded 200 on the 25th of last month (212 cases), then approached 300 on the 3rd of this month (295 cases), and surged to 400 on the 12th (399 cases). The number of confirmed cases reached a record high of 423 on the 16th, and just three days later, it sharply surpassed that figure, exceeding 470 cases.
On the previous day, 184 new cases were confirmed at the Dongbu Detention Center alone, increasing the total number of cases related to this facility to 212. Confirmed cases related to nursing hospitals and nursing homes in Guro-gu also increased by 23 in one day, totaling 54 cases. Additionally, cases related to a church in Gangseo-gu increased by 4 (total 202), Pagoda Town in Jongno-gu by 3 (total 219), Sauna II in Seocho-gu by 2 (total 86), and a construction site in Yongsan-gu by 2 (total 64).
Other cluster infections accounted for 3 cases, 152 cases were due to contact with other confirmed patients, 9 cases were contacts with confirmed patients from other cities or provinces, 3 cases were imported from overseas, and 86 cases are still under investigation for their infection routes.
So far in Seoul, 8,229 patients have been declared recovered and discharged, while 6,363 are currently in isolation and treatment. The death toll increased by 2, totaling 130 deaths.
