Mandatory Wearing of Personal Protective Equipment
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] When riding personal mobility devices such as electric kickboards or electric wheels on university campuses, wearing protective gear is mandatory, and the maximum speed is limited to 25 km/h.
The Ministry of Education announced on the 20th that it has established the "Safety Management Regulations for Personal Mobility Devices on University Campuses."
According to the regulations, dedicated parking zones will be designated around lecture buildings on campus. Additionally, pilot pathways separating traffic lanes and pedestrian walkways will be created.
Shared charging facilities will also be installed to prevent fires that may occur during charging. Electricity fees will be charged according to the charging rates announced by each university.

The Ministry of Education plans to reflect this in safety indicators when conducting basic competency evaluations of universities. By amending the Educational Facilities Act, it also intends to strengthen the accountability of university presidents in the mid to long term.
