Kim Tae-nyeon on Kim Jong-in's Remarks: "Absurd and Low-Level Conspiracy Theory... It's Regrettable"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] Kim Tae-nyeon, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized Kim Jong-in, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, on the 18th for raising suspicions about the schedule for COVID-19 vaccines and support payments, calling it a “bizarre and low-level conspiracy theory.” Chairman Kim had stated at the emergency committee meeting the day before, "There are rumors that the schedule for COVID-19 vaccines and support payments is aligned with next year's by-elections," adding, "I hope this is not true."

He emphasized, “It is truly deplorable that the leader of the main opposition party is shaking the government by relying on conspiracy theories combining fake news and ‘if not, then so be it’ claims. The People Power Party’s low-level political attacks are not limited to this. Despite the government having already stated its position several times regarding vaccine procurement, the People Power Party continues to claim supply failures.”
He continued, “In October, they insisted on conducting a full investigation of flu vaccines and halting vaccinations until safety was confirmed, but now regarding the COVID-19 vaccine, they are demanding vaccinations proceed quickly without even considering safety,” pointing out, “This is a typical behavior of changing words according to the situation and shaking the government.”
He added, “This is an act of disrupting quarantine by sowing discord between the government and the people and creating gaps in disease prevention. The opposition party will try to undermine the achievements of K-quarantine and gain political benefits, but whether intentional or not, they must not engage in acts that incite social confusion and distrust at this time.”

Floor leader Kim said, “Please trust and leave the vaccine administration to the government. Confirming the safety and efficacy of the vaccine comes first,” and added, “Now is the time to calmly finalize vaccine contracts and monitor the vaccine’s effectiveness and safety.”
