The donated electric blankets were provided through the sponsorship of ‘Myeongpum Korean Medicine Clinic’ located in Daerim 3-dong. Despite the recent business difficulties caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, Myeongpum Korean Medicine Clinic decided to donate electric blankets to give a warm winter to the underprivileged in the community.
The Korea Transportation Disabled Federation is an organization established to promote the welfare and rights of disabled people. It leads support for vulnerable groups by conducting various social contribution activities such as medical support, distribution of goods, and traffic safety education for transportation-disabled people and their families, as well as socially marginalized groups.
This summer, they also demonstrated neighborly love by donating 70 electric fans to the community center.
President Song Byung-heon of the Korea Transportation Disabled Federation said, “This winter feels especially cold due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, but we prepared this gift of electric blankets hoping that everyone can spend a warmer winter. We hope that with warm bodies and hearts, we can overcome COVID-19 and gather warm thoughts for each other to get through this difficult time together.”
The Daerim 3-dong Community Service Center conducted a full survey of households vulnerable to cold waves, mainly those living in densely populated residential areas with little sunlight and poor heat circulation, and completed the delivery of electric blankets to 70 households in need.
All recipients of the electric blankets expressed relief and gratitude, saying they would be able to spend the cold winter warmly.
Additionally, the Daerim 3-dong Community Service Center received 30 bags of 10kg rice each from Seoul Central Church on the 14th, and on the 15th, received a donation of 5 million won for the 2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign from the headquarters of Yuhwa Pharmaceutical, continuing the warm gestures toward the socially marginalized in the community.
