Golden Child Jaehyun Tests Positive for COVID-19 → NCT and Seventeen Undergo Preemptive Testing
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Golden Child member Jaehyun tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) on the 17th. Consequently, NCT and Seventeen, whose schedules overlapped with Jaehyun's, canceled the pre-recording of KBS's 'Gayo Daechukje' scheduled for that day and underwent diagnostic testing.
Golden Child's agency Woollim Entertainment stated, "Bong Jaehyun underwent a preliminary test on the 16th and was confirmed positive today."
They added, "Staff members who might have had overlapping schedules also took tests, and Jaehyun currently shows no symptoms. Jaehyun will self-isolate separately, and Woollim Entertainment's entire office has been disinfected. All fellow members and company employees have undergone COVID-19 testing," they said.
It was reported that Jaehyun's makeup artist tested positive after overlapping schedules with a confirmed case at a shop, leading to Jaehyun's testing and positive result.
NCT's agency SM Entertainment also stated, "We confirmed today that NCT's makeup staff overlapped schedules with a confirmed case at a shop. As a preemptive measure, all members underwent COVID-19 testing, which led to the unavoidable cancellation of today's scheduled pre-recording of KBS's 'Gayo Daechukje.'"
Seventeen's agency Pledis Entertainment also said, "We were informed today that a confirmed COVID-19 case visited the hair salon that Seventeen visited on the 16th, and that the confirmed case and Seventeen overlapped in time at the location. For the safety of our artists and staff, all members proactively underwent COVID-19 testing."
Seventeen also had a pre-recording scheduled for 'Gayo Daechukje' that day but canceled it urgently.
With NCT and Seventeen urgently canceling the pre-recording, KBS held an emergency meeting. BTS, who had been on standby since the morning, proceeded with their pre-recording only in the afternoon.
KBS stated, "'Gayo Daechukje' conducts a significant portion of pre-recordings to avoid overlapping schedules among artists for their safety. The pre-recording on this day was also conducted prioritizing safety while adhering to quarantine guidelines."
