Senior centers are frontline leisure welfare facilities for village elders to foster friendship and engage in leisure activities, but as aging facilities have increased, concerns about safety accidents have been raised.
Accordingly, the county conducted a full survey of senior centers urgently needing renovation and repair throughout this year, and carried out environmental improvement construction on aging facilities at 61 locations with a budget of 450 million KRW.
Through wallpaper and flooring replacement, restroom repairs, sink replacements, and rooftop waterproofing requested by the senior centers, comfortable and safe living spaces were provided for the elderly.
In addition, the county is taking the lead in energy saving and realizing eco-friendly energy welfare through projects supporting the installation of solar power generation facilities and the distribution of small LPG storage tanks at senior centers. It is also actively strengthening senior center functions by installing cool roofs to prepare for heat waves, replacing old air conditioners, and installing air purifiers and water purifiers to enhance the function of cooling shelters during the heatwave.
