Jeongeup-si Provides Second Disaster Relief Fund to Low-Income and Crisis Households
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk announced on the 17th that it will provide the second round of disaster relief funds to 2,792 crisis households facing difficulties due to income reduction caused by COVID-19-related unemployment, business suspension, or closure.
The city received applications from 3,247 households through online and community centers, and selected 2,792 households that met the criteria of below 75% of median income and property value under 350 million won.
The support amount is 400,000 won for single-person households, 600,000 won for two-person households, 800,000 won for three-person households, and 1,000,000 won for households of four or more, totaling 1.533 billion won.
The city extended the application period three times to broadly identify and support crisis households struggling due to COVID-19.
The application requirements were also relaxed from ‘income reduction of 25% or more’ to ‘income reduction,’ and in cases where it is difficult to objectively prove income, support can be received with just the application form.
In particular, the city focused on identifying vulnerable groups such as daily workers, and received applications from 3,247 households, far exceeding the initial target of about 2,500 households.
Additionally, for 2,354 households that applied with only an income reduction report, the ‘Jeongeup City Living Security and Emergency Support Deliberation Committee’ recognized them as crisis households and enabled them to receive support.
The city paid 102.6 million won to 140 households that were surveyed in the first round on the 4th, and plans to make the second payment on the 18th for households surveyed afterward.
