Rep. Shin Jeong-hoon's Agricultural and Industrial Complex Issues, Ministry of Industry's Follow-up Measures Planned
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Shin Jeong-hoon, a member of the National Assembly (Jeonnam Naju·Hwasun, Industry, Trade, and Small and Medium Venture Business Committee), announced on the 17th that the Ministry of Industry reported the ‘Plan to Conduct a Survey on the Actual Conditions of Nonggongdanji and Establish Improvement Measures’ and decided to prepare follow-up measures regarding the revitalization measures for Nonggongdanji pointed out during the National Assembly audit last October.
During the audit of the Ministry of Industry, Assemblyman Shin stated, “61.3% of all Nonggongdanji are aged complexes that have passed 20 years since groundbreaking, lacking support infrastructure and losing competitiveness,” and suggested, “Since the operation system is dispersed across ministries and comprehensive policy support is insufficient, a central government TF team should be formed to promote comprehensive support measures.”
Nonggongdanji’s initial establishment and infrastructure support are handled by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of Environment, but maintenance and revitalization are managed separately by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Ministry of Labor, the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, the Small and Medium Business Administration, the Small and Medium Business Promotion Corporation, and local governments, resulting in inadequate policy support.
In this regard, on the 4th of last month, the Ministry of Industry formed a TF team led by the Director of the Regional Economy Bureau, consisting of the Ministry of Industry, the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, related ministries, and experts, and is conducting regular inspection meetings divided into three subcommittees: corporate growth, environmental improvement, and laws and systems.
In particular, a survey on the actual conditions will be conducted from this month until March next year targeting 472 Nonggongdanji nationwide. The Ministry of Industry plans to prepare improvement measures by June next year based on the survey results and to promote institutional improvements such as legal amendments by the end of next year.
