View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Lim Jeong-hyeok, a candidate recommendation committee member for the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency (PCC) recommended by the People Power Party, resigned on the 17th.
Another opposition party recommended committee member, lawyer Lee Heon, stated in a text message sent to reporters on the morning of the same day, "Commissioner Lim has resigned, and Commissioner Lee Heon is scheduled to attend the recommendation committee meeting on the 18th."
In a statement, Commissioner Lim said, "I have made every effort as a recommendation committee member for the PCC chief candidate, including recommending and verifying candidates under review," adding, "In particular, I gave up the so-called veto power, which was considered to be granted to opposition party recommendation members, and actively supported candidates recommended by the Chief of the Court Administration and the President of the Korean Bar Association, doing my best to recommend capable and neutral candidates."
He added, "However, I now feel the limits of my role and wish to resign from the recommendation committee position," and "I hope a new committee member will be appointed and fulfill the role faithfully."
