"Corona Test Hurts"... 60-Year-Old Man Arrested for Disturbance at Screening Clinic
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A man who verbally abused medical staff conducting COVID-19 tests at a screening clinic and attempted to destroy a partition was apprehended by the police.
On the 16th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that they are investigating a man in his 60s, Mr. A, on charges including violation of the Medical Service Act.
Mr. A is accused of verbally abusing a medical support nurse who was collecting a specimen with a swab at the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center screening clinic around 1:50 PM that day, telling her to "be gentle," and repeatedly punching the acrylic partition in front of her.
It was reported that the acrylic partition was not broken at the time. Since the acrylic partition prevents contact between medical staff and testees, if it were to break, the positive and negative pressure facilities would be damaged, causing the screening clinic to cease operation and potentially leading to the spread of COVID-19, making it a dangerous situation.
When the police arrived and requested voluntary accompaniment, Mr. A refused, but the police identified him based on his ID card and other documents at the health center.
