The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced that, following the Employment Policy Deliberation Committee's decision, the designation period for the current seven employment crisis areas, including Mokpo-Yeongam, will be extended until the end of next year.
In this regard, Chairperson Jeon proposed the "Resolution to Urge the Extension of the Mokpo-Yeongam Employment Crisis Area" as the representative on the 10th during the 2nd regular session of the 348th Jeonnam Provincial Council, and strongly urged the government on the necessity of extending the employment crisis area designation.
At that time, Chairperson Jeon stated, "If the designation of the Mokpo-Yeongam area is not extended while job projects and government policies in the employment crisis area are showing effectiveness, it would trample on the sprouts of hope for revitalizing the local economy," adding, "The extension of the Mokpo-Yeongam employment crisis area is absolutely necessary until the effects of job projects become visible and various employment indicators stabilize."
Earlier, on the 7th, a group of National Assembly members from Jeonnam, including Kim Won-i and Seo Sam-seok, issued a petition at the National Assembly urging the extension of the Mokpo-Yeongam employment crisis area.
Chairperson Jeon said, "The Ministry of Employment and Labor's decision reflects the persistent joint efforts of National Assembly members and local councilors to improve regional issues, and it is being cited as a good example of local autonomy development."
Following the extension decision for the Mokpo-Yeongam employment crisis area, employers will continue to receive benefits next year such as ▲payment of employment retention support funds ▲payment of vocational training support funds ▲deferment of employment and industrial accident insurance premiums ▲deferment of disability employment levy payments ▲exemption from late reporting fines for employment insurance ▲payment of regional employment promotion support funds ▲payment of additional youth employment incentives for small and medium enterprises ▲payment of employment promotion incentives.
