View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] In Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, a third confirmed case has occurred in a nursing hospital since December, prompting Goyang City to swiftly prepare countermeasures.
Goyang City announced on the 16th, "First, the city will spend about 220 million won of its budget to purchase 22,000 rapid antigen test kits and conduct rapid antigen tests on approximately 12,000 workers at 372 high-risk facilities, including elderly nursing facilities and disability welfare facilities, over two days on the 17th and 18th."
If the rapid antigen test results are positive, additional PCR tests will be conducted, and the subjects will be placed under self-quarantine until the results are confirmed. Furthermore, if the PCR test results also come back positive, the scope of testing will be expanded to include residents of the respective nursing facility.
Regarding Miso Achim Nursing Hospital, where confirmed cases occurred on the 14th, a total of 212 related individuals were tested on the previous day (15th), with 207 people tested, resulting in the early detection of 27 confirmed cases. Including three individuals who were tested separately or on leave, the total number of confirmed cases so far is 30. The city is conducting a second round of mass testing on the 16th.
So far, a total of 2,104 people have been tested for COVID-19 at nine high-risk facilities in Goyang City, including seven nursing homes, one nursing hospital, and one daytime care center. Among them, 101 people have been confirmed positive, and six have died.
Mayor Lee Jae-jun of Goyang City emphasized, "We will conduct mass testing of workers and residents in high-risk facilities to prevent damage in advance and alleviate citizens' anxiety with various quarantine measures in preparation for the third wave."

Meanwhile, since the 11th, the city has additionally installed COVID-19 screening clinics at three locations centered around public transportation: Hwajeong Culture Plaza (Exit 4 of Hwajeong Station), Goyang Tourism Information Center (Exits 1 and 2 of Jeongbalsan Station), and Gyeongui Line Ilsan Station Plaza.
