12 Channels Including Tooniverse... Content Capability Rated 'Very Excellent'
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] The broadcasting content production capabilities of 25 channels, including MBC Sports Plus, Catch On 1, and Tooniverse, have been rated as 'very excellent.'
On the 16th, the Korea Communications Commission announced the results of the '2020 Broadcasting Content Production Capability Evaluation' reflecting this.
This year's evaluation results showed that the 'very excellent' grade included 13 channels in Group A such as MBC Sports Plus, Catch On 1, and Tooniverse, and 12 channels in Group B such as Billiards TV, Ani One, and Arte TV. Additionally, the 'excellent' grade included 19 channels in Group A such as KBSN Sports, Dramax, and Junghwa TV, and 21 channels in Group B such as Baduk TV, Gayo TV, and Donga TV.
The Korea Communications Commission plans to select channels with excellent production capabilities from each group and award them at the 2021 Broadcasting Awards.
Meanwhile, this evaluation was conducted on the 2019 performance of 160 broadcasting channels operated by 91 broadcasting channel service providers (PPs) to strengthen the production capabilities of broadcasting content. To reflect the characteristics of PP's broadcasting programs, groups A and B were divided based on sales scale, and three supply sectors were classified and evaluated based on criteria such as resources, processes, and performance competitiveness.
Group A consists of PPs with an average broadcasting business sales of 30 billion KRW or more over the past three years before the evaluation. Group B includes other channels. The supply sectors are classified as A for real estate, finance, sports, games, etc.; B for entertainment, movies, animation, dramas, etc.; and C for culture and arts, education, fishing, hiking, health, consumer, elderly, etc.
