Jeongeup-si to Hold 'The One and Only Picture Book in the World' Exhibition Starting from the 17th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] An exhibition of 'The One and Only Picture Book in the World,' created by local residents including children, elders, and multicultural immigrant women in Jeongeup, Jeonbuk, will be held at the Jeongeup City Central Library.
Jeongeup City announced on the 16th that from the 17th to the 24th, 21 books published by Jeongeup City's small libraries will be exhibited in the first-floor lobby of the Jeongeup City Central Library.
The books on display were directly written by participants in the book-making projects of the Silver Small Library, Multicultural Small Library, and Dreaming Small Library.
The Silver Small Library conducted a book-making program for seniors aged 65 and over from June to October, publishing one combined volume and ten individual picture books.
Ten seniors who participated in the program wrote and illustrated their books themselves, sincerely capturing the traces and stories of their lives.
Additionally, the Multicultural Small Library was selected for a public project by the Jeonbuk Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute and carried out the 'Making Books of Mom's Country' project from July to November.
Through this, they created five picture books by adapting fairy tales from their mothers' countries, with Korean and the mother tongue (such as Japanese) written side by side.
The Dreaming Small Library published five books, including student Kwon Dohoon's 'The Dog Kidnapping Incident,' as part of the 'Making My Own Picture Book' program for elementary school students.
The books published this time are picture books created by children expressing what they saw, heard, and felt entirely in their own language and style, without being bound by format or terminology.
The city has laid the foundation this year by operating various book-making programs to convey the message that anyone can become an author.
