National Museum of Korea Simplifies Terms and Guide Texts into Korean
Agreement with the National Language Culture Center Federation... Preparing Guidelines and Sequential Implementation
The National Museum of Korea signed a business agreement with the Korean Language Culture Center Federation on the 15th to simplify museum terminology and guide signs into easy and correct Korean. They plan to prepare guidelines for terms and guide signs used in museums and apply them sequentially not only to the National Museum but also to thirteen affiliated local museums.
There have been previous efforts to simplify exhibition terminology. A representative example is the "Exhibition Item Name Usage Guide" published by the National Museum of Korea in 2015. However, continuous feedback pointed out the need to accommodate a wider age range, leading to a readjustment of the language level.
