[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, who received a two-month suspension from the Ministry of Justice's Prosecutor Disciplinary Committee, started work by arriving at the office on the 16th.
On that day, around 9 a.m., Yoon took a car and entered the Supreme Prosecutors' Office through the underground parking lot. A spokesperson for the Supreme Prosecutors' Office told reporters, "Yoon did not enter through the first floor of the building," and added, "He will come and go on time and perform regular duties until the disciplinary action is finalized."
The second review session of the Ministry of Justice Prosecutor Disciplinary Committee, held at 10:30 a.m. the previous day, ended past midnight, around 4 a.m. Yoon reportedly received the disciplinary committee's decision in the early morning hours.
Before going to work that day, he released a statement suggesting legal action, calling it "an illegal and unjust measure based on unlawful procedures and baseless reasons to oust a fixed-term Prosecutor General."
According to the Prosecutor Disciplinary Act, disciplinary actions of salary reduction or higher require the recommendation of the Minister of Justice and approval by the President. Therefore, Yoon's suspension is decided upon the approval of President Moon Jae-in, who holds personnel authority.
