Gwangju Seo-gu Ranks 3rd Nationwide in 'National Summer Natural Disaster Response Evaluation'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Daeseok) announced on the 16th that it was selected as the 3rd best institution nationwide among cities, counties, and districts in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s ‘2020 Summer Natural Disaster Countermeasure Evaluation.’
As a result, Seo-gu secured a special grant of 200 million KRW.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety conducted the 2020 Summer Natural Disaster Countermeasure Evaluation by reflecting the results of over 100 items of on-site inspections, including the ‘2020 Flood and Wind Disaster Preparedness and Human Damage Prevention Situation Management System’ conducted from February 15 to May 14, and the ‘Human Damage and Response Measures during the Summer Countermeasure Period (May 15 to October 15).’
The evaluation targeted 243 local governments nationwide, and Seo-gu received high marks for establishing safety and human protection plans for disaster-prone areas during the pre-summer natural disaster preparedness period and for proactive emergency situation management.
The special grant secured through this excellent institution selection will be used for the maintenance project of aging sewer pipelines to enable residents to enjoy safer lives from disasters.
