Late-night Fire at KT Gangnam Branch Building... 13 People Evacuated Urgently
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] A fire broke out in the underground battery room of the KT branch building located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
According to the Gangnam Fire Station in Seoul on the 16th, a fire occurred around 11:12 PM on the 15th in the basement 3rd floor of the KT Yeoksam branch building in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu.
There were no casualties, but about 13 people including on-site workers were confirmed to have evacuated. At the time, the battery room was known to contain dozens of lithium batteries and about 380 lead-acid batteries.
After the fire broke out, the fire authorities issued a 'Response Level 1' and began extinguishing efforts. They deployed 37 fire trucks and 121 firefighters, and managed to control the major fire after about 4 hours.
