View original image[Asia Economy Reporters Kim Hyemin and Im Chunhan] Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, fiercely criticized the 'two-month suspension' disciplinary action against Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol on the 16th, saying it is "no different from private revenge by organized criminals disguised as public authority."
Joo held a press conference at the National Assembly that morning and said, "The Moon Jae-in administration is adding madness to its reckless actions."
He stated, "The charges that Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae imposed on Prosecutor General Yoon have no substance. Minister Choo's 'law of interest' is a disciplinary reason that exists only in imagination," and criticized, "Minister Choo cut off the arms and legs of the prosecution, and all legal devices to guarantee the prosecution's political neutrality and independence have been dismantled." He added, "This administration has acquired a goblin's club to discipline and chase away prosecutors who investigate power corruption."
Joo congratulated Minister Choo by saying, "She has betrayed her conscience as a legal professional and destroyed the law, becoming a symbol that will remain in history forever," and also targeted President Moon Jae-in, saying, "You have endured well by not interfering at all and seemingly adhering to due process." He sarcastically addressed the Ministry of Justice's disciplinary committee members, saying, "They are all people who are not neutral and should be subject to recusal or disqualification," and added, "Thank you for your hard work in enforcing unreasonable disciplinary actions."
Joo said, "This administration is planning to privatize the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) along with neutralizing the prosecution," and added, "From now on, the process of privatizing the CIO by the power will be publicly revealed to the people."
He stated, "This administration must have been looking for a CIO chief who would not even dare to breathe freely in front of power and would comply, and to make that possible, they recently nullified the opposition party's veto power over the CIO chief through a parliamentary walkover," and criticized, "They intend to appoint their chosen person as the CIO chief to neutralize the prosecution and stop investigations into their illegal and corrupt activities."
