Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education to Provide 280,000 to 440,000 KRW Educational Activity Support Funds to Elementary, Middle, and High School Students Next Year
39% Increase for Elementary Students, 28% for Middle School Students, 6% for High School Students Next Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] The Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education announced on the 16th that it has provided 7.7 billion KRW this year through the educational benefit program supporting low-income students with supplementary textbook fees, school supplies fees, textbook costs, and tuition fees.
Individually, elementary students received 206,000 KRW, middle school students 295,000 KRW, and high school students 422,200 KRW for supplementary textbook and school supplies fees. Textbook costs and tuition fees were fully supported for first-year high school students.
Starting from the 2021 academic year, supplementary textbook fees and school supplies fees will be integrated into educational activity support fees. The educational activity support fees will increase by 39% to 286,000 KRW for elementary students, by 28% to 376,000 KRW for middle school students, and by 6% to 448,000 KRW for high school students.
Textbook costs and tuition fees will be provided to students of autonomous private high schools and various other schools excluded from free education. Parents wishing to receive educational benefits can apply anytime at their local eup/myeon/dong community service center or through the Bokjiro website.
