Take Out Your ID from KakaoTalk Wallet
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Kakao launched the KakaoTalk Wallet on the 16th, allowing users to store and manage ID cards, certificates, and documents within KakaoTalk.
The KakaoTalk Wallet will sequentially include certificates, ID cards, licenses, documents, and simple payment information.
The KakaoTalk Wallet can be accessed from the More tab after updating to the latest version of KakaoTalk. To use the wallet, users must agree to the terms and complete identity verification procedures.
The wallet is used to store Kakao certificates and various qualification and identification documents. Users can utilize the Kakao certificate within the wallet instead of the existing public certificate in situations requiring personal identity verification, authentication, and electronic signatures.
In September, Kakao was selected as a candidate for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's "Pilot Project for Expanding Electronic Signatures in the Public Sector." If finally selected as the pilot project operator in December, from January next year, users will be able to easily and quickly use the KakaoTalk Wallet to apply for major services from government agencies and issue various certificates through "Government 24," the online public participation portal "Gukmin Sinmungo" of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, and the National Tax Service's Hometax "Year-end Tax Settlement Simplification Service."
Starting from January next year, the KakaoTalk Wallet will sequentially include ▲QR Check-in for electronic entry logs ▲Mobile driver's license verification service, which obtained approval from the Ministry of Science and ICT's ICT Regulatory Sandbox in September ▲495 types of national technical qualifications issued by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea.
Additionally, partnerships will be formed with various organizations, foundations, companies, and educational institutions requiring mobile student IDs and mobile identity and qualification verification services to include a variety of identification and qualification documents.
Kakao applied its highest-level security technologies, including recording issued information on blockchain to prevent forgery and tampering. Users will be able to prove their identity and qualifications safely and conveniently without concerns about loss or damage.
