Two More Cases Related to Gwangjuseongil Church Members Overnight... Gwangju Total Reaches 829
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Two additional COVID-19 cases were confirmed overnight in Gwangju Metropolitan City.
According to Gwangju City on the 16th, as of midnight the previous day, two people were diagnosed positive and classified as Gwangju cases 828 and 829.
These confirmed cases were previously church members of Gwangju Seongil Church in Gwangsan-gu and contacts of Gwangju case 801, whose infection route has not been identified.
Thus, the transmission cases linked to case 810 have increased to a total of five, including cases 823, 826, 827, 828, and 829.
Case 828, residing in Dongnim-dong, Buk-gu, was confirmed positive while under self-quarantine and is reported to have no additional contacts or movement paths.
Case 829, residing in Yeonje-dong, Buk-gu, is a contact of case 810.
Previously, diagnostic tests conducted on 71 people, including Gwangju Seongil Church members who had contact with case 810, have continued to confirm positive results among case 810’s family, acquaintances, and church members.
Authorities have identified that case 810 visited Gwangju Seongil Church twice, on the 9th and 14th, reportedly attending services while wearing a mask.
Before being diagnosed positive on the 13th, case 810 was confirmed to have visited a daycare center in Buk-gu, his home, and an acquaintance’s house, narrowing down the possible infection routes to four locations: the church, daycare center, acquaintance’s house, and home.
