Choi Eun-seok, CEO of CJ CheilJedang, Initiates Organizational Restructuring on First Day... Establishes Food Strategy Planning Office
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] From his first day in office, CEO Choi Eun-seok, newly appointed as the head of CJ CheilJedang, has focused on securing competitiveness by implementing an organizational restructuring.
According to CJ CheilJedang on the 16th, an organizational restructuring was carried out for the core business food division and bio-industry division, centered on establishing the Food Strategy Planning Office directly under the CEO and creating a Green Bio department directly under the division head. The restructuring was implemented immediately on the first day of CEO Choi’s appointment, the 14th, marking his first official task. CJ CheilJedang evaluated this move as an effort to secure future competitiveness by strengthening ultra-differentiated capabilities and responsible management.
CEO Choi also concurrently serves as the head of the Food Business Division. The newly established Food Strategy Planning Office under the CEO is responsible for discovering new growth engines and formulating and overseeing future strategies, led by Deputy General Manager Bae Hye-won, who gained attention as the youngest executive promoted in 1981.
Changes were also made to the Bio Business Division. The existing New Category department was changed to the White Bio department, and a Green Bio department was newly established directly under the division head. White Bio is a bioplastic business that replaces carbon-based chemical products with marine biodegradable plastic materials (PHA). Green Bio handles essential amino acids for animal feed. This specialization within the bio division is seen as establishing a responsible management system by subdividing expert areas.
