View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) announced on the 9th that the winning entries of the ‘Mapo-gu Blog Contest,’ held to comfort residents exhausted by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and to promote Mapo’s vision through stories related to the district, have been selected.
Now in its fourth year, the ‘Mapo-gu Blog Contest’ invited entries under the theme ‘Wise Mapo Life Overcoming COVID-19, Capture My Own Mapo.’ Participants could submit various stories such as their personal Mapo experiences enjoyed while practicing social distancing, reviews of various administrative projects supporting COVID-19 recovery by Mapo-gu, and experiences of events like the ‘Top 10 Walkable Paths in Mapo’ and the ‘Mapo M Classic Festival.’ Many bloggers nationwide participated.
From September 7 to November 22, a total of 118 entries were received. After in-depth first and second round evaluations by experts in each field, eight final works were selected.
The grand prize was awarded to Jeong Min-hye (Geumcheon-gu) for ‘Walking the Autumn with Mapo’s Walkable Path, Gyeongui Line Forest Trail,’ which captured the autumn scenery of Mapo along the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, where different landscapes unfold along the railway.
Two excellence awards were given: one to Shin Dong-ho (Mapo-gu) for his blog post titled ‘The More You Walk, The More You See, The Mapo I Live In,’ which reviewed walking all ten paths of the ‘Top 10 Walkable Paths in Mapo,’ and another to Lee Ki-chae (Mapo-gu) for his blog post ‘Riverside City Mapo, Flowing Along the Han River / Best 10 Healing Walking Trails.’
Additionally, five encouragement awards were given to works including Kim Myung-ran (Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do), who participated as one of 100 online audience members in the non-face-to-face Mapo M Classic Festival; Hwang Yoon-ha (Gwanak-gu), who captured Mapo’s autumn scenery while walking the ‘Sky Sunset Path’ among the Top 10 Walkable Paths; Yoon Dong-seon (Gangnam-gu), who walked the ‘Maebong Sangam Path’; Han Hye-jin (Mapo-gu), who walked the ‘Ahyeon-dong Hill Path’; and Yoon Soo-young (Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do), who spent a special time at Nanji Hangang Park.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, no separate award ceremony was held. The prizes included ▲one grand prize winner receiving 1,000,000 KRW ▲two excellence award winners each receiving 500,000 KRW ▲five encouragement award winners each receiving 100,000 KRW along with certificates.
Furthermore, the winning entries will be posted on the official Mapo-gu Office SNS and website to be used as promotional materials for Mapo-gu in the future.
