Jaan Signs Partnership Agreement with BioPharma Research Lab to Secure Bio-Centered Next-Generation Growth Engine
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Jaan announced on the 15th that it has signed a partnership agreement with ‘BioPharma Research Lab’ for the development and distribution of bio-functional foods. This partnership agreement is expected to accelerate the establishment of the ‘Bio Life Science Research Institute,’ a new business initiative being promoted by Jaan.
Through this agreement, Jaan plans to develop and distribute ‘individually recognized bio-functional food ingredients’ and ‘functional foods utilizing new bio-substances’ in collaboration with BioPharma Research Lab.
BioPharma Research Lab is a subsidiary of the bio healthcare specialized company ‘Fuzgen Bio.’ Fuzgen Bio develops and produces pharmaceuticals and health functional foods with efficacy in metabolic diseases and anti-aging. In 2010, it discovered anti-diabetic effects in the ingredient ‘Seriphonia Laxerita’ and conducted research for 10 years, successfully developing a functional food that improves insulin resistance, one of the main causes of diabetes. This product has been successfully commercialized and holds original patents not only in Korea but also in major overseas countries including the United States, Europe, and Japan.
A Jaan official stated, “Through the partnership with Fuzgen Bio, we plan to enter the health functional food and pharmaceutical markets based on research on the ‘secondary metabolites’ of organisms,” adding, “Jaan plans to build a diversified bio healthcare product portfolio by producing its own health functional food brand through outsourcing and acquiring licenses from global bio healthcare brands.”
He continued, “Jaan is already in discussions for product development with various domestic and international health functional food companies, including global brand companies from the United States, Canada, and Australia, so related results will soon become visible,” and added, “The products developed by Jaan will be distributed through its proprietary biohealth platform ‘Selecon Health.’”
