Seocho-gu 'Seoripul Y (Youth Artists) Festival' Held
From the 16th to 19th, a diverse stage combining the talents and capabilities of young artists unfolds... Pure classical to experimental genres, various young artists participate to deliver a message of hope
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu District Office (Mayor Jo Eun-hee) and Seocho Cultural Foundation (CEO Park Dong-ho) will hold the ‘Seoripul Y Festival’ from the 16th to the 19th, featuring fresh and original cultural and artistic programs by young artists.
Under the theme ‘Cheer Up, Young Artists!’, the four-day ‘Seoripul Y (young & youth) Festival’ is an online festival prepared to provide opportunities for young artists, who have been struggling due to COVID-19, to showcase their diverse talents in Seocho-gu, a city designated as the nation’s only music culture district. It also aims to offer residents the chance to enjoy high-quality cultural performances.
Various programs by bold and sensuous young artists, ranging from pure classical to experimental art genres, will be presented online, delivering messages of hope and inspiration.
Due to the COVID-19 situation, all performances will be broadcast online through the Seocho Cultural Foundation’s YouTube channel.
First, on the opening day, the 16th at 7:30 PM, a concert featuring four winners of the ‘KBS KEPCO Music Competition’ will be streamed on the YouTube channel. The passionate performances by young artists aspiring to become world-class classical musicians playing piano, cello, clarinet, and soprano will guide the audience into the world of authentic classical music.
Next, on the 17th at 7:30 PM, a live broadcast will be held at Banpo Simsang Art Hall featuring the young producing band ‘the POSITIVE’ and the a cappella group ‘Narin’.
The producing band ‘the POSITIVE’ is an outstanding young artist team selected among the final 10 teams in the ‘Seoripul Youth Live’ project conducted by the district. They produce music in various genres such as hip-hop, K-pop, ballad, and acoustic, showcasing youthful individuality and unique musical colors. The energetic stage created together with the a cappella group ‘Narin’, who gained attention through appearances on Channel A’s ‘Vocal Play’ and M-net’s ‘I Can See Your Voice’, is already highly anticipated.
On the third day, the 18th at 7:30 PM, a stage will be held at Banpo Simsang Art Hall featuring the classical string ensemble ‘Cresco Ensemble’ and the four-member band ‘Hoppipolla’, formed after winning the 2019 JTBC Superband competition. ‘Cresco Ensemble’ is a young classical string ensemble team that was selected in 2020 for the Seocho Music Culture District’s cultural space revitalization project and received great acclaim for their excellent performances. They will present a hopeful and moving stage blending authentic classical music and band music.
On the final day, the 19th from 7:00 PM, the ‘Young Artists Open Table’ will be held, where young artists who have been active locally but had no chance to interact will gather to share and communicate about life during the COVID-19 period under the theme ‘Making Art in Seocho’. It will be a valuable time to share discussions and proposals regarding youth art projects.
Held online via video conference due to the COVID-19 situation, the ‘Young Artists Open Table’ is expected to explore the future direction of youth art projects and provide a platform to promote active artistic activities among local youth.
