View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] Ssangyong Construction, ranked number one in remodeling completion performance, will further strengthen its remodeling business next year. This is because the remodeling market is expected to expand further due to the government's strengthened redevelopment and reconstruction regulations.
On the 14th, Ssangyong Construction announced, "To maintain our number one position in the remodeling sector next year, we plan to strengthen orders for apartment remodeling in prime locations such as large complexes and areas near subway stations in Seoul and the metropolitan area."
Ssangyong Construction launched the industry's first dedicated remodeling team in July 2000. Since then, based on its outstanding technical skills, it has secured remodeling projects for a total of about 9,000 households across 13 complexes. The order amount reaches approximately 1 trillion KRW.
They have successfully completed the first to fourth domestic remodeling complexes: ▲Ssangyong Yega Classic in Bangbae-dong, Seoul (2007) ▲Ssangyong Yega Classic in Dangsan-dong (2010) ▲Ssangyong Yega Classic in Dogok-dong (2011) ▲Ssangyong Yega Classic in Bamseom (2012). They currently hold the top position in remodeling completion performance.
Their technical capabilities are also excellent. Ssangyong Construction introduced various structural reinforcement methods such as the country's first two-floor vertical extension, one-floor pilotis construction for the entire complex, addition of two basement parking floors, simultaneous construction methods for aboveground and underground floors, cross-section extension, steel plate reinforcement, and carbon fiber reinforcement. They also adopted seismic design using dampers (vibration absorption devices) that can withstand seismic intensities of 6.5 to 7.0.
Their remodeling performance in general buildings is also outstanding. In 1991, without any drawings, they perfectly renovated and expanded the Raffles Hotel, a national treasure-level hotel in Singapore. In 1999, they received the URA Award from the Singapore government for remodeling the Capital Square Building shophouse.
Domestically, in 2000, they remodeled the largest single Asian store of Louis Vuitton, the "Louis Vuitton New Concept Store," and last year, they successfully completed the "Louis Vuitton Maison Seoul," designed by Frank Gehry, known as the greatest living architect.
Additionally, they have proven their capabilities in luxury architecture fields such as the Seoul Hilton Hotel, Sofitel Ambassador, and Grand Ambassador Seoul Hotel.
A Ssangyong Construction official said, "Remodeling construction is significantly more difficult than new construction, making it a challenging field for inexperienced contractors to enter. We plan to develop new construction methods, nurture dedicated engineers, and pursue strategic alliances with other companies to secure mega projects."
