Emart Offers Up to 60% Discount on Christmas Decorations
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Christmas decoration items have experienced a surge in demand during the 'stay-at-home Christmas.'
Emart announced on the 14th that sales of Christmas decoration items from November 1 to December 6 this year increased by approximately 12.8% compared to the same period last year. This growth rate is more than twice as high as the overall Christmas item sales growth compared to 2018.
In early November, when sales of Christmas items began, many customers sought simple accessories. Products that create a year-end atmosphere, such as LED deco trees and garlands, led the sales.
Since mid-November, as social distancing measures were strengthened, the number of customers looking for full-scale decoration items like Christmas tree supplies has been increasing. Emart analyzed that the rise of 'stay-at-home' customers spending more time at home has made decorating Christmas trees a new pastime. From November to the 6th, Christmas tree sales increased by 53% compared to the same period last year.
Accordingly, Emart will hold an event from the 17th to the 25th, offering up to 60% discounts on over 170 types of Christmas decoration items. Representative items in the event include Christmas trees, LED lights, tree ornaments, accessories, stickers, wrapping supplies, dolls, and party goods.
Emart simplified the distribution process by directly dealing with local manufacturers in China and secured price competitiveness through advance contracts and bulk purchases.
In the past, sales focused mainly on traditional decoration items such as Christmas trees and LED lights, but recently, the lineup has expanded to new items like LED snowball lanterns, dancing melody dolls, snowman snap bracelets, snowman decoration calendars, candle holders, and more, gaining popularity.
