Gwangju Gwangsan-gu Selected as an Excellent Institution for the National Cancer Control Project
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 11th that it was selected as an excellent institution for the '2020 Gwangju-Jeonnam National Cancer Management Project.'
Gwangsan-gu was recognized for its project achievements in the evaluation conducted by Gwangju City, Jeollanam-do, and the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Cancer Center targeting cities, counties, and districts in the Gwangju-Jeonnam area.
Amid the COVID-19 situation, Gwangsan-gu conducted non-face-to-face customized screenings and provided one-on-one telephone guidance for new eligible candidates for the national cancer screening.
Additionally, through collaboration with related organizations, it supported secondary examination costs for those with cancer findings and enhanced screening rates through promotions via text messages, mail, and banners.

A Gwangsan-gu official stated, “The national cancer screening is a key system that can diagnose cancer early, increase treatment rates, and reduce mortality rates,” adding, “We will continue various promotional activities so that citizens can designate their own cancer screening dates, just like celebrating their birthdays every year.”
