Highly Pathogenic AI Confirmed at Duck Slaughterhouse in Naju, Jeonnam
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] A suspected case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) at a duck slaughterhouse in Naju, Jeonnam, has been confirmed as highly pathogenic AI.
According to Jeonnam Province on the 10th, samples collected from the duck slaughterhouse in Naju, where the suspected highly pathogenic AI case was found, were confirmed to be H5N8 type highly pathogenic AI after detailed testing.
The Jeonnam Animal Hygiene Testing Laboratory conducted tests on ducks brought to the slaughterhouse and detected the H5 antigen, which was finally confirmed through detailed testing by the Quarantine Headquarters.
The quarantine authorities culled all 44,000 ducks at the slaughterhouse.
