Jeon Nam-do Councilor Lee Min-jun Proposes 'Proper Korean Language Usage Ordinance' as Lead Sponsor
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Lee Min-jun, a member of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea·Naju 1), on the 10th, officially proposed the "Jeollanam-do Office of Education Ordinance on Proper Use of the Korean Language" at the 348th 2nd regular session standing committee meeting.
This ordinance was enacted to prevent the misuse of Hangeul, recognized worldwide for its scientific nature and excellence as the nation's foremost cultural heritage, through foreign loanwords, abbreviations, slang, etc., and to establish an institutional foundation for the proper use of the Korean language.
Assemblyman Lee Min-jun stated, "The ordinance includes provisions for the Jeonnam Superintendent of Education, all faculty members, and students to use the Korean language correctly. It covers the superintendent's responsibilities, the establishment and implementation of basic plans, matters related to official document preparation, and education on proper Korean language use."

Meanwhile, Assemblyman Lee Min-jun is a three-term assembly member who served as the vice chairman of the 11th Jeonnam Provincial Assembly's first half and has been working for the development of Jeonnam education since being appointed as a member of the Education Committee in July.
