[Photo] Construction in Full Swing Next to Deoksugung Stone Wall and Beojeumnamu Tree
On the 10th, a plane tree (Platanus) that has stood alongside citizens for over 50 years on the stone wall path near Daehanmun Gate in Deoksugung, Jung-gu, Seoul, is at risk of being cut down. This is because the Seoul Metropolitan Government, having started the construction of the new Gwanghwamun Plaza, is carrying out new landscaping in line with cultural heritage landscape and pedestrian environment improvements. The plane tree provides shade to citizens and functions to reduce urban heat island effects and fine dust. Construction is underway next to the plane tree. / Reporter Moon Honam munonam@
