[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] Singer Iron (real name Jeong Heon-cheol, 28) was arrested by the police for assaulting a male roommate at his home.
According to the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul on the 10th, Jeong was caught in the act the previous afternoon at his home in Yongsan-gu, where he allegedly struck his roommate, Mr. A, dozens of times with a baseball bat, on charges of special assault. The police reportedly responded to the scene following a report from the victim's family.
The police plan to review whether to apply for an arrest warrant after completing the investigation.
Jeong is a hip-hop singer who was the runner-up on Mnet's "Show Me the Money Season 3." In 2017, he was prosecuted for assault and other charges after hitting his girlfriend, Ms. B, in the face with his fist during sexual intercourse because she did not comply with his demands. In November 2018, the appellate court confirmed a sentence of 8 months in prison with a 2-year probation and 80 hours of community service.
