"Public Servants Labor-Management Harmony" Gyeongsan City Receives Prime Minister's Commendation, Union Chairman Awarded "Presidential Prize"

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsan City received the Prime Minister's Commendation in the '2020 Excellent Public Official Labor-Management Culture Certification Program' evaluation hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The award ceremony was held on the 10th at the Government Sejong Complex.
The evaluation was conducted in three stages?document review, on-site inspection, and face-to-face assessment?by a certification review committee composed of labor-management relations experts. The focus was on the awareness and efforts of labor and management toward cooperative labor relations, elements of practicing a collaborative labor-management culture, and efforts to establish rational labor-management practices.
Choi Young-jo, a three-term experienced mayor of Gyeongsan City, has been recognized for creating a stable organizational culture through cooperation and communication with labor unions since the beginning of his term. Representative labor-management cooperation projects include ▲ hosting events promoting harmony and unity such as the One Heart Sports Festival, Yutnori (traditional Korean game) Festival, and labor-management harmony workshops ▲ the Clean Tree Growing event and the campaign to implement the Top 10 Work Innovation Proposals ▲ lunch concerts and Gyeongsan trips with families.
Mayor Choi Young-jo stated, "The great award we received today is the result of public officials and labor communicating and cooperating with respect and consideration." Labor Union Chairperson Park Mi-jung responded, "We will continue to strive for a labor-management culture of coexistence by communicating and cooperating through dialogue with the executive branch."

Meanwhile, at the award ceremony, Park Mi-jung, Chairperson of the Gyeongsan City Public Officials Labor Union, was awarded the Presidential Commendation in recognition of her contributions to building a sound labor-management culture.
