Samsung Electronics is gradually revealing the specifications of the 'Galaxy S21,' which will be unveiled in January next year. The Galaxy S21 features a violet color, a smoother rear camera design, and supports S Pen input functionality.
On the 9th (local time), IT specialist media Android Police and IT tipster Max Weinbach released a teaser video of the Galaxy S21. The rear of the Galaxy S21 Plus is in violet color and uses matte plastic instead of glass. The camera housing is designed in a rose gold color similar to the side color, and unlike the previous model's induction-style camera housing, it connects more smoothly with the rear.
The Galaxy S21 will be released in 6.2 inches, the Galaxy S21+ in 6.7 inches, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra model in 6.8 inches. The Galaxy S21 and Plus models are expected to support FHD+ displays, while the Ultra model will support WQHD+ displays. Notably, the Ultra model supports the S Pen input feature, which was previously exclusive to the Galaxy Note series. All three models support a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Ultra model is equipped with four cameras, while the S21 and Plus models have three cameras. The Galaxy S21 and Plus models feature a 64MP telephoto camera and 12MP main and ultra-wide cameras. The Ultra model includes four cameras and a laser autofocus (AF) sensor. It has a 108MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and two 10x zoom telephoto cameras (10MP each). LED flash and autofocus sensors are also included. The front camera is expected to be a punch-hole type.
The Galaxy S21 is equipped with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 888 chipset. The Snapdragon chipset will be used in Korea, the United States, and China, while other regions are expected to use the Exynos 2100 chipset. The Snapdragon 888 chipset is a flagship chip integrated with a 5G modem, offering 25% improved CPU performance and 35% better graphics rendering compared to the Snapdragon 865. The Galaxy S21 is expected to support 8GB of RAM, while the Plus and Ultra models will support 12GB.
The battery capacities are ▲Galaxy S21 4000mAh ▲S21+ 4800mAh ▲S21 Ultra 5000mAh. The colors for the S21 are expected to be Phantom Pink, Violet, Gray, and White; the S21+ will come in Violet, Silver, and Black; and the Ultra will be available in Silver and Black.
The fingerprint recognition feature is also expected to be significantly improved starting with the Galaxy S21. The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor will be larger, and the unlocking speed will be faster. IT tipster Ice Universe explained, "The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor area of the Galaxy S21 is 1.77 times larger than the previous model, and the unlocking speed will be more than twice as fast."
