Gyeongbuk Province Ranks No.1 Nationwide in Ministry of Employment and Labor Evaluation of 'Regional Innovation Project'

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] In the 2020 evaluation by the Ministry of Employment and Labor of the large-scale job creation project led by metropolitan autonomous entities called the 'Regional Innovation Project,' Gyeongbuk Province ranked first among metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide, securing an additional 20% or more of national funding for the next year.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 9th, through the Regional Innovation Project, which was first introduced in 2016 as a Ministry of Employment and Labor public contest project, Gyeongbuk Province spent 1.5 billion KRW (1.2 billion KRW in national funds) this year to create 233 new jobs by the end of November. The annual employment target was 168 people.
The Gyeongbuk Regional Innovation Project has been promoted over five years from 2016 to 2020 with a scale of 10 billion KRW (8.3 billion KRW in national funds) to increase the number of jobs by supporting local crisis industries and to resolve job gaps through customized services for vulnerable groups.
In this evaluation, Gyeongbuk Province's self-analysis stated that it became a model for other local governments by achieving excellent results in areas such as ▲ project planning and collaboration efforts led by local governments ▲ immediate response strategies reflecting the spread of COVID-19 ▲ operation of the Employment Innovation Promotion Team.

Kim Ho-jin, Director of the Job Economy Office of Gyeongbuk Province, said, "This year, the Regional Employment Innovation Project evaluation ranked first nationwide, and for three consecutive years, we secured the highest amount nationwide in the 2021 regional-led youth job project, showing continuous good results in the job project field," adding, "We will do our best to create more good jobs by linking support for regional strategic industries and companies in the future."
