Jeonnam Province Wins Excellence Award in National Statistical Geographic Information Service Contest
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province received excellent evaluations in the 'National Statistical Geographic Information Service Contest.'
On the 9th, Jeonnam Province's policy research group, the 'JCM (Jeonnam Community Mapping) 3.0 team,' won the Excellence Award in Statistics Korea's '2020 National Best Practice Contest for Utilizing Statistical Geographic Information Service.'
This contest, open to the general public and institutions nationwide, solicited entries such as startup maps created by the general public using statistical geographic information service data, as well as education and research & development cases from local governments and other public institutions.
A total of 23 entries were submitted this year, and after online public evaluation and expert written and presentation reviews, six final works were selected.
The Excellence Award-winning JCM 3.0 team's 'Jeollanam-do Policy Map Based on Statistical Geographic Information Service' created maps that made various statistics and numerical data easy for residents to understand and encouraged their use.
It received favorable evaluations for enhancing internal efficiency and providing administrative information convenience to residents.
In particular, this policy map visualized data on the realization rate of individual publicly announced land prices and vacant house maintenance. It demonstrated various possibilities for use as policy decision data, such as land price balance surveys and vacant house maintenance efficiency plans, drawing praise from online public evaluations and internal and external experts.
Previously, last month, Jeonnam Province also received the Grand Prize in a policy research group contest for public officials, further recognizing its value.
Kim Suhyun, a land management officer who gave the final presentation, said, "Winning the Excellence Award in this contest is the result of efforts made together with the research group, and it is meaningful to have our ideas and Jeonnam's competitiveness recognized. We will continue to share creative ideas about provincial administration and actively propose policies."
