[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] In the early morning, video creators illegally entered Cheongsong Prison by driving cars and conducted a live broadcast showing the execution chamber building, prompting correctional authorities to investigate the facts.
According to the Northern Gyeongbuk No.1 Prison (Cheongsong Prison) on the 9th, around 3:20 a.m., two Popcorn TV BJs deceived an employee at the prison gate by saying they had come to pick up a released inmate, successfully gaining entry.
One of the BJs reportedly introduced the interior of Cheongsong Prison during the live broadcast, claiming, "I lived here, so I know the inside well."
Pointing to a building, he used a euphemism referring to the execution chamber, asking the other BJ who had entered with him, "Is this the necktie factory?"
They continued broadcasting from inside the prison for about 40 minutes, then ended the broadcast saying, "Now we will go to Pohang Prison," and "If you support us, next week we will try to enter Northern Gyeongbuk No.2 Prison."
At that time, the number of viewers reportedly reached 800, according to Popcorn TV viewers.
Some viewers reported to the Ministry of Justice duty office that "private vehicles are roaming inside the prison."
One viewer explained the broadcast, saying, "It seems they drove around the prison walls 4 to 5 times."
The correctional authorities confirmed the unauthorized entry through closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and belatedly began investigating the facts.
