FKCCI "Labor Relations Act Will Cause Side Effects Such as Job Reduction"
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) expressed strong regret over the passage of labor-related laws, including the Labor Union Act and Employment Insurance Act, which the business community has consistently opposed, through the National Assembly's Environment and Labor Committee.
On the 9th, the FKI criticized in a statement titled "Comment on the Passage of Labor-Related Laws through the Environment and Labor Committee," saying, "Despite the business community's appeals for careful deliberation in the National Assembly considering the impact of labor-related laws on the public and companies, the bills were processed unilaterally without in-depth discussion."
The FKI opposed, stating, "The amendments to the Labor Union Act, such as allowing dismissed and unemployed individuals to join unions and paying wages to full-time union officials, will further deteriorate labor-management relations and weaken corporate competitiveness."
It added, "In particular, the revised bill, which is a regression compared to the government's proposal by allowing workplace occupation and entry of non-workers into workplaces, will further deepen the imbalance of power between labor and management," and warned, "The mandatory employment insurance for special types of workers such as caddies and insurance planners will also cause side effects like job losses."
