Gwangju Nam-gu to Hold Peaceful Unification Empathy Exhibition Starting from the 9th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) is holding the ‘2020 Nam-gu Peace and Unification Empathy Exhibition,’ featuring videos capturing panoramic views of Pyongyang using advanced technology and covering the historic meetings between South and North Korean leaders, to prepare for the era of unification and foster a social atmosphere of peace and unification between the two Koreas.
According to Nam-gu on the 8th, the ‘2020 Nam-gu Peace and Unification Empathy Exhibition’ will be held for three days starting from the 9th in the lobby on the first floor of Nam-gu Office.
This exhibition will be held without any separate commemorative events due to the escalation of COVID-19.
During this period, visitors to the first-floor lobby of Nam-gu Office can view about 30 photos, including images of inter-Korean summits and daily life of North Korean residents captured through the lens.
Additionally, visitors can visually inspect various daily necessities, including toilet paper actually used by North Korean residents.
The highlight of the exhibition is the video experience that allows visitors to see panoramic views of Pyongyang.
Nam-gu has installed two types of video experience devices to provide VR (virtual reality) videos showing various locations around Pyongyang to visitors of the exhibition.
By wearing the virtual reality headset provided in the VR video experience room, visitors can look through lenses attached inside the headset to see various parts of Pyongyang, including Pyongyang Square, Mansudae, Okryugwan, and the Taedong River.
In particular, if the participant gazes at a desired location within Pyongyang through the headset lens for about three seconds, a video of that area is displayed, delivering a vivid sense of actually visiting Pyongyang.
