Ban Ki-moon: "POSCO's Coexistence and Symbiosis Management Philosophy, a Model for All Companies"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon evaluated on the 8th, "POSCO's corporate citizenship initiatives are a step ahead of others and can serve as a great model for corporate management."
Former Secretary-General Ban said during a special lecture at the online '2020 Corporate Citizenship POSCO Culture Day' that "the meaning of global citizenship, which coexists and co-prosper with stakeholders in our society based on empathy and consideration, aligns with POSCO's corporate citizenship."
He emphasized, "POSCO's corporate citizenship spirit, which aims to create a better world beyond economic profits, is a value that all companies should pursue together."
Introducing the Paris Climate Agreement and the UN SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), which he actively promoted during his tenure as UN Secretary-General, Ban said, "POSCO is also actively responding to carbon neutrality, and our companies must strive to create shared value."
At the event, POSCO unveiled the book Corporate Citizenship, Drawing Future Management, which contains various research achievements on corporate citizenship management.
A total of 19 scholars from domestic and international business and sociology fields, including Professor Emeritus Kwak Soo-geun of Seoul National University, Chair Professor Song Ho-geun of POSTECH, and Professor Emeritus Moon Hyung-gu of Korea University, participated to academically approach the basic concepts of corporate citizenship and what corporate citizenship management means in rapidly changing times such as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and digital transformation.
POSCO Chairman Choi Jeong-woo said in his remarks, "We will ensure that employees internalize the corporate citizenship spirit in even small tasks so that people can truly feel, 'POSCO has really changed as it pursues corporate citizenship as a management philosophy.'"

Since his inauguration in July 2018, Chairman Choi has presented and practiced the management philosophy of POSCO evolving as a 'corporate citizen' that pursues not only economic profits but also the values of coexistence and co-prosperity as a member of society.
