Incheon Songdo Dalbit Festival Park Station Opens on the 12th... Four Nearby Roads and Parking Lot Completed
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] With the opening of the second phase extension of Incheon Subway Line 1 from Gukje Eobmu District Station to Songdo Dalbit Festival Park Station on the 12th, four nearby roads have been opened and a temporary parking lot has been established, making commuting much easier for residents of Songdo International City Districts 6 and 8.
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced on the 8th that at midnight on the day, a road section 1.265 km long and 23 to 50 meters wide between Songdo SK View Apartments and Songdo Landmark Prugio City Officetel will be opened.
The Incheon Economic Authority started construction in September last year and completed the four roads opening this time in about 1 year and 3 months.
Also, considering the residents of Songdo Districts 6 and 8 who use the subway, a temporary parking lot with a capacity of 200 vehicles was prepared near Songdo Dalbit Festival Park Station.
Lee Won-jae, head of the Incheon Economic Authority, said, "We express our gratitude to the Songdo residents who have endured traffic inconveniences," and added, "With the opening of the second phase extension of Incheon Line 1 and the roads near Songdo Dalbit Festival Park Station, we expect that the traffic inconvenience for residents of Songdo Districts 6 and 8 will be greatly alleviated."
Meanwhile, with the completion of the second phase of the Songdo extension line connecting Gukje Eobmu District Station to Songdo Dalbit Festival Park Station, the first train will start operation on the 12th.
The 820-meter-long Songdo second phase section, which began construction in July 2016, is opening after 4 years and 5 months. Although new apartments have recently been moving in to nearby Songdo Districts 6 and 8, residents faced significant inconvenience due to the lack of a subway station.
Previously, Incheon Subway Line 1 opened in 1999, and the first phase of the Songdo extension line, the 6.54 km section from Dongmak Station to Gukje Eobmu District Station, opened in 2009.
As a result, Incheon Subway Line 1 now extends 30.3 km from Gyeyang through residential areas such as Jakjeon and Bupyeong, major hubs with high foot traffic like Incheon Terminal and Munhak Stadium, and the transfer station Woninjae connecting to the Suin Line, reaching Songdo International City.
