LG Uplus Builds Kumoh National Institute of Technology 'Smart Campus' with 5G Wireless Network
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG Uplus is helping Kumoh National Institute of Technology transition to a 'smart campus' by building 5G infrastructure.
LG Uplus announced on the 8th that it has completed the network and solution setup for the '5G Government Work Network Mobile Demonstration Project' with Kumoh National Institute of Technology and will begin full-scale demonstrations.
This project focuses on replacing wired work networks with 5G wireless networks and discovering convergence services that utilize 5G's ultra-high speed and ultra-low latency characteristics. Accordingly, 5G infrastructure replacing wired networks will be established at Kumoh National Institute of Technology, providing four specialized services: ▲cloud system ▲low-latency remote classes ▲industry-academia-research development (R&D) platform ▲facial recognition artificial intelligence (AI) cameras.
The cloud system moves work systems that could only be used on campus PCs to virtual PCs linked to cloud servers. Using this, smartphones or laptops connected to the 5G network can access the system anytime and anywhere. Remote classes can also be provided in a clear and stable environment.
Based on the wireless network, knowledge information such as theses, technologies, and patents can be easily shared and searched, and cameras equipped with intelligent facial recognition solutions enable access control and authentication in crowded places like libraries and dormitories.
